So last night was pretty intense and made me realize I really need to teach my self to BRAKE when I get freaked out. Ever since I’ve been driving, if I’m confronted with a near accident my body freezes up and I’m unable to stomp on the brake, I just try to push through I guess. Last night we rode our bikes down to the Columbia River to watch the Perseid meteor shower and on our way back a car sped through a stop sign and drove me off the road. I should have stopped when I saw the car not slowing down, but of course I just freeze up. I wasn’t hurt at all, just scared to hell! Oh by the way – Mom: I was wearing my helmet
So, here’s a happy picture of the sunset.
Today Alex received some birthday cash in the mail so he treated us to lunch at Bye & Bye. We had gone there a few weeks ago for drinks when our friend Audra & Oliver came to Portland. They’re an all vegan bar and offer great bar food. I had the Eastern Bowl and Alex had their meatball sub. Check them out!
We heard about a small all-vegan grocery store here in Portland called “Food Fight” so we checked it out today to get the goods to make rice krispy treats. We ended up getting a little bit more than just the vegan marshmallow creme: choco chips, natural buttery spread, butternut squash ravioli, soy curls (for this recipe from Vegan YumYum), and other goods.
And..I’m a sucker for succulents. mwahaha

Earth balance is delicious.
And those succulents are beautiful! Those are my favorite. I used to poke them gently with my finger when I worked at Lowe’s. They didn’t have spikes or anything but they were next to the ones that did and I wanted all of the tiny succulents to know that I was treating them the same.
